Meet Sweet Lisa
Lisa Matthews |
Please join me in welcoming Lisa Matthews to the Sweet Gang. She is a true product of the hard working mid west. Lisa grew up on the industrial south side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in a family of resourceful tinker-ers, artsy crafty folks and thrifters. Quality time spent with grandma and grandpa "rummaging" (that's yard-saleing to the Wisconsin folks) instilled in her the love of the hunt. Lisa also spent her childhood drawing, painting, taking art classes, devouring magazines, rearranging the family furniture and sketching house plans. Ever the curious type, she had a natural love for art and history which she studied in college. Lisa bummed around Europe and eventually went to Grad school for architecture. She followed that with more study abroad, some real adult jobs in architecture firms and then ten ten years ago,a move to Phoenix, which prompted a shift to commercial architecture. (Full circle...remember those childhood home plans Lisa used to draw?) The junker in her remained through it all. Three years later, in addition to practicing architechture in her firm, Studio Seven Designs, Lisa began devoting serious time to sourcing, restoring and selling unique finds with her vintage home goods business, Salvage Workshop. You'll recognize Lisa's style by her bohemian mix of raw, industrial, urban-minded, worn-in, humble pieces. You are going to love her as much as I do. Welcome aboard Sweet Lisa!

Dear Friends,
One of the wonderful things about the new building is the expanded space. It has given opportunity to add to our Sweet Family. This morning I would like to introduce to you one of two fabulous women who have joined the Sweet Gang.

Sandra |
As an Ohio farm girl, Sandra was born into the
“junking” life. It didn’t matter whether it was furniture, collectibles,
machinery, animals, or even pets: If it wasn’t bid on, bartered for, traded or
swapped out, it didn’t have a chance to go home with Sandra or her family.
Sandra’s
“love of the hunt” continued after buying and moving to a ranch on the San Pedro
River in Southeastern Arizona. The farm girl gave way to the rancher, who now
was collecting and selling antique Western memorabilia. Her store, called “The
Stagg Ranch Collection” was named appropriately after the ranch she now called
home.
A move back to Phoenix prompted her to infuse a
certain eclectic and energetic urban feel to her new finds. Sandra found an
outlet for her creativity and her new style among the clients that hired her to
paint faux marble on columns and walls, full wall murals, and trompe l'oeil
renderings. She painted and decorated and tracked down furniture and
collectibles for clients from Desert Mountain near her home in Cave Creek, all
the way out to commercial and residential projects in the Windy City.
Windy City work trips ultimately gave way to
frequent travel to London. On other trips, visiting little towns in Switzerland
and Italy or the back roads of Germany has given her a new outlook on the truly
international reach of good “junking”.
The
challenge and reward for Sandra now is to track down and acquire the eclectic
pieces locally that reflect her love of the craftsmanship and history of the Old
World that she and her clients have come to recognize as her style: Old World
Eclectic.
You are going to love Sandra, we sure do.
Friends make sure you have entered into the Sweet Moves Contest to win one of five VIP passes into the Destination Found Event May 17th.
Have a wonderful Sunday,

Sweet's Story Continues
Dear Friends,
I was content, so I thought. I was happy, so it seemed. My
daily routine had become just that, I thought it was enough. Until a day one
year ago when twenty feet crossed my path. My angels, the Sweet Gang, opened
doors within me I had tightly closed, asked me what could I be not what had I
become.
They believed in a potential, that I had
long forgotten and saw beauty in me where I saw age. I was transformed. As if I
were a child again, I gazed into the mirror, for the first time in many years, I
smiled.
I made a promises to myself and to them. I would embrace my dreams. I would
grow in ways I had never believed possible and I would continue to make changes
in myself to keep these promises. With change comes Courage. Courage to be
steadfast. Courage to take risks and Courage to believe. I have
Courage. With their support I have transitioned from a woman I let
the World create back in to the beautiful Lady that I was born to be, simply
Sweet.
Each and everyone of you has also been apart of my awakening and I thank
you. We have much further to travel my friends and I look forward to our new
Journey.
Dreams do come true.
Your Friend,
Sweet
