Love is in the Air

Dear Friends,
Love is in the air and my heart is pounding. The Sweet Gang has gone over the top for the Romancing the Home Event this coming weekend. From industrial to romantic from traditional to funky Sweet Salvage is packed with it all.

Isn't the clock fab with the splashes of red? I so love this wooden tote. I wonder what trade C.W. Meeker did. An old diploma, books and charming architectural corbel just add the perfect flair.

This to die for aqua metal desk would make the most amazing bathroom counter with a vintage porcelain sink. It has to be one of my favorite pieces this event. Love it. Then add the french soaking tub and WOW!

Check out this vintage industrial light..this most certainly is the conversation piece you have been looking for. Imagine it hanging in a kitchen above an island. Stunning.

I am adoring all the hints of turquoise through out Sweet Salvage this month. It is refreshing and makes me long for spring. The Sweet Gang has incorporated garden elements to help that vision along.

Can't wait to see you all this weekend for the Romancing the Home Event. Remember you still have two days to enter into the Romancing The Home Contest to win VIP passes for Thursday morning.

Sweet Steampunk's Home.

Dear Friends,
Nancy and Mike's are the owners of Steampunk Az. They are continuously on the road finding the most unusual treasures from across the United States and are known for their extensive collection of wrought iron and architectural elements. Their home represents what incredibly fun and happy people they are. I just love it.

How fun is this vignette? A vintage chalk ware Shepard sits on  a Lucky Lager bowl. Just when your giggle subsides you see this incredible antique crystal cloche, wow! The mix is a sheer joy.
Do you see the marvelous aged crackle on this precious little doll head?  This is a rare jewel tucked under a blown glass cloche.

This scale caught my eye with a big "Hello". What a fantastic piece of history. My mind wanders to the ole' General Store that weighed it's wares on this classic. Then there's the bottles, oh my! My eyes are not done, a beautiful table top chandelier adds an unexpected sparkle to this vignette. This my friends in one of those pieces you rarely see and when you do you just smile.

A tour of Mike and Nancy's home would not be complete if  I did not show you an amazing chippy green cupboard, a graphic sign, an exquisite etched mirror, an old olive jar and of course a concrete angel. Thank you Steampunk Az for sharing your fabulous home with us.

We are quickly approaching the Romancing the Home Event this Thursday thru Sunday. I am so excited. Sneak peeks are on their way. Remember you still have 3 days to post photos of your home for the Romancing the Home Contest. Good luck.

Sweet Heather's Home

Dear Friends,
Today we take a tour of Sweet Heather's Home. Heather has a whimsical way of decorating her home with a love for vintage letters/ numbers, clocks, animals, French garden and the sea. She repeats these elements throughout her home with accents of traditional black and white.

In her living room Heather displays her love of of trunks and numbers. Nestled next to a modern leather couch which is fluffed with black and white hounds tooth and number pillows. A large black library cabinet is vignetted with more of her collection. In the bottom of the picture a old chalk ware dog which is an exact replica of her lab.

An antique clock is hung on the back of the cabinet and serves as a back drop for her display. Heather loves this little rusty German Shepard, symbolic of her real Shepard Ace.

A WW2 iron Navy Bulldog sits next to a vintage clock again representing again a family animal.

On the wall next to the library cabinet Heather displays more clocks and letters in a fun mix. Traditional wing backs were added to the room and sit in front of a large arch window.
A collection of wooden typeset.

A step up from the Living room is the formal dining area. Heather created this subway art as a gift for her husband. It includes all of the streets they have lived on. A long black shelf holds her serving pieces and bar ware.

A locker baskets hold white linen for easy access.
Across another black hutch holds Heather white ware collection and is flanked by black and white original Ansel Adams photos of Yosemite which is a generational camping spot for her family.

In her bedroom Heather has added a more simple feel. French aqua draperies frame a large window, dark simple furniture, a tufted leather headboard all with a punch of brown and white zebra. Her her love for the sea comes into play.
Shells and coral are sprinkles throughout adding texture.
In her bathroom a large antique glass cabinet is filled with coral and starfish. A concrete mermaid competes the feel.

Taking a risk Heather painted her kitchen cabinets and doors black. Her favorite piece in this room is her farm table from Prague. As in the rest of her home a mix of black and white softened by texture with small splashes of color.
On last little doggy to show you. This iron boy sits on her fire place mantle. Too cute.

Hope you enjoyed Heather's home. You still have a few days left to enter the Romancing the Home contest. Good luck.

Sweet Katie's Home

Dear Friends,
From the moment you enter Katie's home you feel as if you have stepped into a European painting at the turn of the century. Your eyes are greeted with soft muted jewel toned textiles and fabrics. A mix of velvets and tapestry blend perfectly with warm wood. Old World vignettes of Religious Icons, sterling silver, oil paintings and glass cloches dazzle your eyes. Katie's has been collecting her treasures for many years and it is so apparent in their rarity. Enjoy the tour.

As in many of Katie's vignettes a beautiful woman bust is the center focus adding a strong feminine feel. A cattle tag amongst the tarnished silver adds a whimsical touch, a special number for Katie. All of this on top of a beautiful marble  serving board. Just beautiful.

Katie collects antique floral oils. This is a sample of her collection arranged above a darling antique half round table. Isn't this girl bust to die for? Absolutely precious. My eye stayed focused as well on the little angel clock. What a magnificent little jewel.

Katie's pride and joy is her extensive collection of antique religious figures. Madonna's, Santos and even a French zinc grave crosses can be found in her home. A loving devotion and collection. Her most favorite is the stunning Virgin Mary she acquired some years ago. Heavenly

Katie has a wonderful way of adding just the right amount of texture to her vignette. I loved how the sea fans, vintage equestrian ribbons, antlers and sheet music gently softened the more traditional elements creating eye candy at every view.

It was wonderful to see how over the years Katie has collected things that mean something to her. Family mementos, religious statues and treasures of the Old World. She is timeless in her design and when you love what you treasure your home becomes truly a home. Thanks Katie.

Sweet Julie's Home

Dear Friends,
Julie's home was a sheer joy to visit. An absolutely adorable older ranch style home located downtown. She has artfully incorporated  architectural elements throughout her home to add interest and reflect her personal love for vintage homes.

In her living room a beautiful gold mirror is hung on a pair of chippy doors behind a neutral couch. "Flert" pillows are placed on the couch lending a personal touch.

Gorgeous white coral adds texture to this fabulous vignette. A large sculpture adorned with a coral crown brings a fantastic life element into the mix. Glass apothecary jars add sparkle and are a great way to display her collections. All this in front of yet another wonderful architectural element.

Who would not want to sip coffee in this comfy little nook? Again Julie has added magnificent stain glass doors as a back drop to this darling seating arrangement. The warm toned wood adds comfort to the space. Traditional fabrics in black and white play off the whimsical checked floor. Love Love Love this room.

Julie collects vintage white pottery. Here against the wood the pottery comes to life and showcases it's simple elegance. Selected art in muted tones adds movement and a small hint of color bringing the white and wood tones into a cohesive balance.

Julie's home is truly a beautiful place. A brilliant mixture of architectural element, vintage collections and tradition. You have only one week left for you to enter the Romancing the Home Contest. I look forward to taking a peek into your home.

Sweet Stephanie's Home

Dear Friends,
Walking into Stephanie's home you immediately know you have entered a special place. She has created a home filled with beautiful vignettes. Her passion for industrial shines but is softened with a vintage feminine touch.

Old muted patina books are bejeweled with a metal bead chain drawing interest to the graphics and adding a little sparkle.

Her favorite number is 3 and is found throughout the home. A little Valentine's display showing 3 to be the key to her heart.

Letter "W" symbolic of her last name is beautifully nestled into a grouping of coral and shells. Next to it a crusty bottle gives a whimsical touch and makes you wonder if there is a message hidden inside.

This is by far my most favorite. Located in her kitchen Stephanie has brilliantly used an old industrial display shelf to showcase her amazing white ware collection. Stunning and yet extremely practical.

Photos of her darling family are another element she proudly displays throughout her home. What a cute idea to have them peering out from an apothecary jar.

Black and white photos displayed in flower frogs

This graphic sign sums up the feeling of her home. Topped with a beautiful french inspired mirror and photos of her family. Oh and I did spy this fabulous trophy inside a wire basket. Wonderful

I had to leave you with this closeup of her white ware collection. Simple beauty sometimes makes the best statement.

Hope you enjoyed Stephanie's beautiful home. I sure did. Remember to enter the Romancing the Home contest for your chance to win VIP passes for the January 19th thru 22nd show.
